OSCA's "ONE PLUS ONE" SONGWRITING CONTEST

Oklahoma Songwriters and Composers Association has been holding its popular One Plus One songwriting contest since the mid 90's. Named for its concept of "only one voice and one accompanying instrument". The contest has been given a different look every year since it was initiated. Some of the additions have been open- multi-genre contests; a wider variety of categories; and has even included full production categories.

Ideas for future contests have included the possibility of a "lyrics only" category, and critiques of non-winning entries. Our Prizes and awards have included guitars and cash winnings up to $500.

Preliminary and finalist judges have changed from contest to contest. Preliminary judges have been recruited from people recognized as having worked in, or lived music for several years, and are preferably independent of OSCA in the Oklahoma area. Finalist judging has been provided by industry recognized professionals such as Pat Paterson, Harriet Shock, Pat & Pete Luboff, Jason Blume , and the late Nick Veney , and John Brahaney, many of the same names that have presented OSCA sponsored songwriting workshops.

Check this page often for announcements concerning future One Plus One contests and details.
